I know first-hand what it feels like to be in the classroom and wonder if you’re doing enough for your students. When I started teaching, my students came with so many different strengths, needs, and life experiences—but I didn’t always have the tools to support them. Some days, I went home feeling like I had fallen short.
On top of that, being a South Asian educator in a system where few looked like me (at the time) came with its own challenges. My experiences and perspectives didn’t always align with my colleagues, and I often felt alone navigating those differences.
Finding a Better Way
Over time, I discovered better ways to teach with belonging, representation, and structured literacy. I immersed myself in research, connected with diverse voices, and experimented with strategies that helped all learners feel seen, valued, and successful in and out of the classroom.
Fast Forward to Now
I am proud to say I …
– Teach Primary/Junior where I authentically centre diverse voices and structured literacy
– Support fellow educators in literacy and belonging
– Share resources and reflections
– Create spaces where students (and teachers!) feel they truly belong
My goal is simple: to help teachers support literacy in the classroom while building communities rooted in belonging, representation, and joy.
If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, or alone in this work—you’re not. You’re in the right place
